Ladies Day Out...

picture compliments of penniwigs.blogspot.com

Last Friday wasn't my normal babysitting day, but things just didn't seem "right" between me and my 4 year old granddaughter when I took her home on Thursday. Her little brother, who is 20 months, demands so much time and attention that I think she was just feeling a little upstaged.

So...I had to go the the beauty shop to get my hair "re-cut" because they just didn't take enough off last week. I called to see if Elylah wanted to tag along and get her 2nd ever hair cut. Her mommy and I had been talking about how she needed a trim, but babydoll was resisting strongly. But she took the bait to be alone with grandma (big smile).

After we got that done, I really didn't want to take her home yet. So we called my mom (GG) to see if she would go with us to a ceramics shop. I've been dying to take Elylah there as she loves to paint.

I always dress her up when I take her out, just because she's so cute...and she loves it...

Fortunately I remembered her art smock, which was hand made by my sister, Marcella.

Of course she would choose THIS wall plaque to paint (I thought we were going for a piggy bank, since little brother recently dropped and broke hers)...

Let's see, how many shades of pink ARE there, anyway?

She is practicing stamping on the newspaper.

Budding artist hard at work...

I tried something too...I'll let you know if it turns out. We have to wait a week to pick our things up...

Finally, we stopped for a late lunch at a nearby restaurant...

It was a fun day! It seems like a long time since I've had a day "on my own terms" and I did just what I wanted to do! What have you done lately just for the fun of it?

Oh my...what have I done recently just because I wanted to???
We had 3 couples over for pizza and fellowship on Saturday night, just because! It was fun and my heart was filled.
Oh, and I just booked a 4 day trip to see my kids and GRANDS. Guess I'm rolling in blessings! PTL!
Love you Sweet friend and I commented on your comment on my motherdaughtertango blog.
Check it out =)

Your granddaughter is very camera friendly and cute! I miss the daily watching of mine, but I do have more free time now.

Just for the fun of it, I have been filling that time by doing Art Mail with friends I met through blogging. It's very relaxing to create collages and correspond with decorative fun handmade letters and envelopes, all the while getting to know someone better.

Before being asked to participate with 8 others, I never knew of such a thing. Apparently it's going on world wide...reviving the art of letter writing before e-mails and texts take over. :)

What beautiful pictures of such beautiful people! Looks like this was a good day for everyone involved. I can't wait to see the finished products (ceramics).

Lately? I enjoyed the lunch shared with two friends at our dining room table yesterday. And today it will be lunch with 19 other friends (our monthly no-longer-Red-Hats meeting).

Enjoyed sharing your day! Loved the pics! What a neat place that shop is! We have a similar one in town, and I took our younger granddaughter there about a year ago. We each made a mug.

This was such a nice post, and it was about three generations of great granny, nana (you), and Elyah. Is she half Filipino? Looks like.

I had fun looking at the pics too!
