So today, hubby and I decided to blow the stink off and went to our local mall to walk around.  "Blow the stink off" is an expression we use when we need a change of scenery or to get an attitude adjustment.  It is a rainy day and we both were feeling a little discouraged over general principles.  So off we went.  Oh my.  We pulled up behind THIS car while at a stop light...

Now seriously, I would be afraid to drive that car around town.  That's all I'll say about it right now.

Once inside the mall, of course we visited the Apple store first.  Yes, we touched all the forbidden fruit.  I made hubby explain all the things that started with "i".  You know: i-Pad, i-Pod, i-Phone, i-mac...I'm sure there is more.  Did you know a MacBook Light weighs just over 2#? Amazing.  It's fun to go to stores like that when there is absolutely no chance of having to make some agonizing decision.

So we did some more window shopping.  As we passed Abercrombie & Fitch I did a double take.  Their website advertises "sexy, casual clothing" but this was too much.  There was a big poster of two guys standing as though facing each other, with their jeans zippers partially open.  The caption read "are you in?" How do they get AWAY with this?

After some more walking and a little snack, we sat for a few minutes on a bench while I took a cell phone call.  In front of a store and directly in our line of vision was a nice looking young female employee who was changing out a sign stand.  She repeatedly had to squat to do what she was doing and each time we saw far more of her backside than anyone would have desired to.  I told hubby I wanted to walk over to her and say "excuse me, do you realize that every time you squat down like that your crack shows?" Now I have to wonder, is she totally aware or unaware of this?

We finally left the mall and got home.  I feel like one of Beatrice Potter's bunnies returning to my safe little rabbit hole.  Sometimes it really does feel like it's too big and too bad a world out there.

Funny! We blew the stink off at the mall, too. Well, Barnes & Noble actually (at the mall). I read quite a few magazines and did MY share of people watching, too. There were quite a few very unique people out and about here, too. I don't venture out into the halls. Years ago I was embarrassed to look right or left at some of the store windows. I can't imagine what it's like now!

I'll take your word for it :)

Hi Jacquelyn,
Yea honey, I hear you and it is all around us and seems to be getting worse by the day.............
But this is not our home, and as bad as it is.... the Lord is still in control, but as believers it is hard on our spirit as we see these things taking place, think it is part of the plan to give us the desire to go to our real home.
Remember sweetie to set your sights on what Philippians 4:8 says are it can really get us down. Cause it can be a pretty ugly world out there, but there are a lot of good things happening too.
I will share one that really encouraged my heart this week.
Raavi Zacharias was on a christian tv show this week, and he had been a speaker at a Univ. in Ga. I think it was, and he had 10,000 people come to see him, and he spent 2 hrs. answering questions that people had about God. The college dean or someone asked him I really don't understand how you had so many people especially on a Thurs. nite cause Richard Dawkins was here
a few weeks ago, and he only had 3000 people, so Raavi said something like well, I guess educated people are starting to realize that they need more than there education to save their souls. Loved hearing that he had more than triple what Richard Dawkins had!! God is at work, sometimes it just doesn't look like it! But her is............

Love ya sweet friend, and praying for you..........

Nellie, thanks for that encouragement! I think you are so right...if we never saw anything in this world that discouraged us or repulsed us, our hearts would grow warmer and warmer toward it...and we know this is part of the journey and not our final destination! LOVE that Ravi had 3 times as many people as Dawkins! LOL!

Hey Friend,

When we need a break from the mundane or the worrisome, we call it "getting out of Dodge!"

Sure wish we had a mall close by to go to, however, with the growing defilement in our culture, I'm not so sure.

It makes us so sad to see the rabid acceptance of all things profane. One casualty for us is the TV show "Glee." Though we have so enjoyed the music and characters, the ever increasing emphasis on homosexuality has caused us to draw the line and we we just can't watch it any more.

Yes, I agree with Nellie that the increasing depravity in our world serves to remind us that this is not our home and final destination. Hang in there!
