Managing time on Blogger...

I need some suggestions. I'm trying to decide how to manage my time on blogger. I love to "visit" with all of you, and I love to write posts. I just don't seem to have enough hours in the day. Should I set a specific day of the week to post, and another day to read? Or do I try to find a set hour of the day to do this and make a regular habit?

How do you all manage your time on blogger??? How to you handle acknowledging comments? How much time a day, on the average, would you say that you devote to blogland?

Help!!! and THANK YOU for your time!

I write when I can, read when I can, comment when I can. I don't think any of us can do any more than that of one another.

This has been an unusually busy time at our home this winter/spring. I think I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I did give up reading most of the blogs that I enjoy for a period of time. It was hard for me to do that. Usually when I sit down to enjoy the blogs and write, an hour stretches into 3 or 4. I feel your pain.

Hi Jacque ~
Finding time to do what we enjoy is always a challenge. And I suppose our time constraints change with every "season" so flexibility is key.
Though I think I would love a structured schedule to blog, it never seems to "work" for me.
The only tasks I do habitually, without fail, are: open the blinds upon awakening and brushing my teeth just before bed! HA!
Praying for you sweet friend.

Jacque, I think Shirl summed it up. Of late that is what I find myself doing. If I feel obligated to be here "x" number of days a week then it sort of spoils it. Do what you can when you can. That's all any of us can do. Hugs!

I don't have a huge circle of readers - so I still love to interact with my readers by trying to reply to each comment - on my own blog...then when time allows, I visit others - first, I visit those who have commented on my blog.

I have said it before, blogging eats up a large portion of my time. When my computer crashed over Easter...I thot it would be hard to go without blogging....it was a very peaceful time away! In fact, now that I'm back, I find it hard to get into the swing of it again... but it is a season for other things -

I am a gardener and I love being outside. Blogging isn't at the top of my list right now. I think it's ok to take a break! Many others do. I miss them when they are gone - but I respect the fact that they need a break. I remember what it did for me...

It would be easier if we could just write and not feel compelled to visit other's pages too. But then how would we know that we were an encouragement and we'd miss being encouraged by another.

Sooo moderation is the key, as others have said. And, I pray over my blog and my blogging experience. I ask the Lord to bring to my bridge those whom He wants to connect with me on any given day - and - I ask of Him, who He wants me to visit today when I surf my blog list... I try to allow Him to be in control of my blogging experience now - and it is no longer consuming. A little bit here and a little bit there....I cannot keep up with all the blogs that I follow anymore. I have had to tell myself that. I'm a slow reader and a slower typist!! But I love being an encouragement and I love being encouraged.....

God uses many tools and many people in many ways to encourage us - and blogging is just one of them. Spending all of our time blogging walls us away from those other things and relationships that are also His planned purpose in our lives.

Some people disagree with me, but I say that we are becoming a generation of abreviated relationships because of our socially connected 'network' -

I used to love sitting at my kitchen table entertaining a group of friends over coffee and Bible Study. That was my connectedness...that doesn't happen any more in my new situation here caring for my dad. So, blogging has become my social outlet. I needed it to feel connected. You have to ask yourself - "why do I blog".."What am I looking for through the experience"..."what does God have to say about how to manage my blogging time"...Am I ignoring my family or other responsibilites - to blog (I was guiltly of this one)

It can quickly become an 'addiction' if it's not managed - God is a God of order and if He's #1 in our life - He expects our blogging experience to be an ordered experience, just like everything else in our lives.

God bless, you friend, you're not alone in this dilemia...most of us struggle with the same feelings. I will be praying for you that you find the peace that you're looking for concerning this issue.

The "acknowledging comment" situation is one that baffles me. I'm rather inconsistent at this...

I AM a quick typist and a fast reader so it might appear (to some) that I spend all my time on the computer. Not so.

I've read the comments here and agree with ALL of them. We don't need to compare ourselves with others and "worry" about our style. Rather find out what pleases God and be joyfully faithful in doing it!

I blog when it fits in with my day, am a very early riser, so I blog then and usually not past 8am but here it is today past 8:30, but I am on my way outside after this. I blog in the evenings then for a while.
As for relying to comments...I'm sporadic and prefer to just visit everyone's blog and comment to them there.
I post when I want to, don't want to feel obligated, that would spoil the joy and I do go long times between posts sometimes. I just post about my life moments, so usually I am busy living those moments and get behind, hence the long post sometimes!
Just post, comment and reply in ways that are comfortable for you, Jacquelyn.

I went through a time when I was so busy, working, caring for my mother, my home etc. Blogging was my form of relaxing, it let me take time for myself. More then writing, reading about others was so important to me.
Let your life dictate the priorities, if your not able to write or comment, we're still here checking on you - and praying for you. I think that we worry that we'll lose those precious relationships blogging has established for us. We'll lose some if we stay away, but not those who are really "friends". I don't always comment after people have left a commment on my blog. Not every comment requires an answer. Do what you can, when you can...we're here for you!

I just blog and visit other blogs when I am able. I am not an everyday blogger...just a whenever I can blogger.

You can also subscribe through an RSS feed and read them at one place like Google Reader. I have a Mac, and my email program will download my feeds like email. When I catch up on the blogs, then it is easier for me to keep track.

I agree with Pat. Not every comment needs a response. I don't often respond individually to each comment. Sometimes I post a single response. Plus, I don't always comment on another's blog. Sometimes you just don't have anything to say. Doesn't mean you didn't enjoy the post.
