A NINE DAY ADVENTURE...Part Six: The Grand Finale

We wanted to do something extra special with the grandkids on our last day with them in early September. Their parents wouldn't return until suppertime, and being a Saturday, they didn't have Pre-School. So with a little help from the internet we figured out where to catch the train into the big city, Charlotte, NC. So we hopped on the LYNX Blue Line and enjoyed about a 30 minute ride...

Here we are, waiting for our train...

Destination...

DISCOVERY PLACE!

The kids had been there before, so they knew what to expect and were looking forward to it. We didn't have a clue, but it was beyond all expectations...

After a fun filled day, eventually it was time to go...And Deacon watches for our train...

Here it comes...

It was very state-of-the-art, and a lot of fun to ride...

And this is me at the end of the day...

But I wouldn't trade it for the world...

We had to leave to return to Ohio the next morning. It was one of the most memorable weeks of our lives!

They are all planning to come up for Thanksgiving this year...and GUESS WHAT???

Deacon and Owen are expecting a new brother or sister in March!

What fun! Had they ridden a train before? We have a Science Center here. It reminds me of Discovery Place...

So good for the kids.

I see an object lesson in that bed of nails.

Loved the picture of you at the end of the day. How I can relate!

Congratulations on the news of another grandchld!

Yes, they had taken the train before, which probably made it easier for us! Rebecca, go ahead and take the pic of Bob on the bed of nails and blog about your object lesson! :)

Wow, this is another fun post...the pictures said it all!

The train is really superb. Reminds me of the trains in Switzerland!

I am sure you are very excited at the thought of having another grandchild!

The day at Discovery provided your g/sons with a bit of everything it seems.

You are a courageous grandma! Wish I had your energy level. I've still got youngin's in the nest... well, two at home; two in college.

I'm not ready for that next step, but I've heard it's a wonderful label to wear.

Enjoy them, and make sure to get plenty of rest in the meantime! I'm headed to the couch when through here. A good day thus far... thank you Lord!

Elaine, I've always known I wanted to be the most involved grandma I could be when the time came. I was blessed with the two best grandmas in the world who were a huge part of my life...both very different but both influenced me for good in so many ways. And I knew beyond a doubt I was loved by them! But I had no idea that my heart could hold so much love when my turn came...it has just been a blessing that is so indescrible that you just have to get there to know it. And YOU WILL! So glad your day has been a good one so far!

Great pictures. I have three grandkids that live in Durham, NC. They have been to Discovery Place with their Grampy on the other side and other relatives. It was fun to see the pictures and see where they had been. What a great day. Maybe this baby will be a little girl.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :) Another blessing for your family! And what an awesome museum. I got to go to one like this with my grandkids a couple of years ago and I KNOW how tired you must have been and how happy as well! :) What a joy these educational activities are for both grandparents and their grandchildren! I just got back from visiting one of my latest little grandbabies and what a cutie pie he is - along with all his siblings! Very fun and now I am very behind - but oh - it's well worth it! :)

Did y'all get a chance to have some fun Fall pumpkin decorations activities? I got to enjoy it all over again with the second set of grandkids! Very fun! If you did, there's a great pumpkin blog party hop tomorrow. :)

Have a blessed week!!!!
